Autism Accreditation

Over the last few years we have been successfully accredited from the National Autistic Society (NAS) demonstrating our continuous support and provision to all pupils with an ASD diagnosis. In recent years, Ysgol Y Gogarth received basic Accreditation and in 2020 Ysgol Y Gogarth then went on to achieve Advanced Status demonstrating a higher level of expertise in Positive Behaviour Support, classroom structure and with a wide range of communication strategies.

Conclusively, over 83% of parents and guardians strongly agree that they can contact, be given information, feel listened to and know how to raise concerns about any aspect of their child’s progress. Feedback from families also demonstrated the school has a good understanding of their child’s needs of the Autistic Spectrum and that overall ‘the school has had a positive impact on my family member’s life and learning’.

In 2020 Ysgol Y Gogarth went on to receive a Commendation for best practice on the model of ‘Partnerships with Families’. With strength in:-

  • Innovation; There is evidence of very positive family engagement in seeking parental views and input.
  • Sustainability; The FACE strategies underpin the curriculum and support provided, consistently and throughout.
  • Impact; There are a wide range of activities and training opportunities for parents. Practise is well embedded with some impressive supporting evidence’.

It is in Ysgol Y Gogarth’s best interests to continue with the commitment in providing strong and supportive links to our pupils with Autism. So much so, we are continuing to embark upon a new Advanced, Accreditation and another Commendation in the summer of 2022 to ensure we continue to only be the best in practice.
